Pemberton Land of the giants 10th to 12th Nov

The trees!!!!!!! "Look at that one" "Ohhh look at that one" "Look at the size of that" this was the conversation as we headed into the town of Pemberton.

We booked the caravan park in town which was nice. It was on the river and had the most fantastic mountain bike tracks at the back. The kids took off to test their skills.

We set off on the Karri forest explorer drive.  First stop was the Gloucester Tree. This tree was used as a fire spotting tree back in the day. You are still able to climb the tree but it has 1950's safety standards so its not for the faint hearted. The way to the top is via metal spikes spiraling around the outside of the tree. There is no safety net so user beware. It is 53 metres to the top. We all made the climb and I talked and patted this amazing living thing the whole way up.  And what a feeling when you are up there.

There is a platform at the top.

After our adrenalin rush from our adventure up and down the tree we set off on the Karri forest drive. Check out these giants

No social distancing here. Tree hugger from way back

The drive then takes you to Beedelup falls. You might remember this place as it was made famous by the group called the orange people in the 80's. They are long gone and there is now a forest retreat that you can stay at.

We headed deep into the forest and down to the Warren river

We wound our way up through the forest and the drive takes you to the Dave Evans Bi Centennial Tree.
Wow this tree stands at 65 metres tall and you are able to climb to the top in the same fashion as the Gloucester tree via metal spikes in the side, we opted not to climb this one as it had been raining and the spikes were slippery.

Last stop was a place called the Cascades of course it was late. That's how we do it so we had the place to  ourselves. We found the railway line and a timber structured bridge.
Looks like the scene from stand by me
