Margaret River Yallingup and Hamelin Bay 8th to10th Nov

Left the big smoke heading down the coast. We went past Mike and Sues place that we had helped in the accident ( see earlier post) and returned the fuel containers. It was nice to see them and they were doing OK. Off down the road and into Yallingup which is at the top end of the Margret River region. We stayed in the caves caravan park. This place was great the camp kitchen looked like a bar restaurant and the showers a treat. We spent the day t with a tour of the Caves which is just over the road from the caravan park. These caves are fantastic. The guide gives you a quick history then you off to explore on your own. They really were spectacular, 37 meters down and its another world. I didn't take any photos as they don't do it justice.

In the afternoon we went to a farm where you can feed the animals the kids needed a fix of cuddles from fuzzy things. Adam Nash and Maya fed the ostrich which grabbed your hand with its mouth and it made a snapping noise. The kids enjoyed the day.

We stopped at a Gallery, the art was OK however we spent about an hour in their driveway just discovering all the wildflowers in there. WA is certainly amazing when it comes to flora.

These falls were just out of town

We did a part of the Cape to cape walk to reach Quinninup Falls. These falls were lovely and the frogs were  everywhere ( maybe not for you Luke ha ha). We saw plenty of snakes one was a huge python in the rafters of the toilet block it must of been about 2 metres long with beautiful markings. The coast is rough and wild in this section.

We then headed down to  Hamelin Bay to play with the stingrays. The shallow waters of the bay is home to Eagle rays and other species of stingrays . I know I have said this alot but it is crazy beautiful there. The only thing there is a camp ground and nature at its finest. we splashed in the shallows and were treated to some great interaction with a few Eagle rays they came along the shore line and around your feet when looking for food they are so cool. They do have a barb however if you don't get over the top of them they are are not dangerous. What a buzz to hang out with these guys.

The environment had changed a lot and we were now in BIG tree country in fact we were heading to Pemberton home of the giant Karri and Jarrah. Any one who knows me and the family would know that to say I was excited about seeing and being part of this forest was an understatement.
