Hyden Wave Rock 15th to 16th Nov

We are off today so a quick visit to Shelly beach just up the road from the camp. These beach top cliffs are used by Para gliders to launch themselves off the edge and on to the winds, hence the viewing platform doesn’t have any hand rails!

This little guy came out to say farewell.
A splendid Wren (and he is indeed)

We are heading to Hyden which is home to Wave Rock. I remember seeing this on TV when I was little and thought I’m going to go there one day. So today is the day!

It was nice to be warm again about 32 degrees at Hyden, perfect.
The caravan park is located right at the base of the rock so you can walk there from camp.
Its colour and shape are beautiful.

You can walk a trail over the top of the wave and there
is also a lovely short walk to a cave called hippos yawn.

We took the drive out to some caves which have an incredible amount of Aboriginal art in them in the form of hand prints, however the history has been lost so no one is really sure what the site was used for.

There are some lovely gums in the area called York gums and they have really shiny leaves. It looks as though they are glistening with rain.
There is also a spa pool at Hyden. That has the same salt content as the Dead Sea. That means you cant sink. Maya's face was priceless when she got in and just bobbed to the surface. Nash looked like a cork on the ocean. Funny as.
