Cobar to Charrolette Plains QLD via Bourke

13/6/2021

Up early quick bowl of cereal and we are gone. We are heading for QLD. Lots of driving today however we stopped in at Bourke. Cant believe we are in Bourke! The information centre is at the end of town and is a great building (clean toilets ladies!) with lots of info ( funny that for information centre). We travelled back out of town to the Cemetery. In this cemetery lies an absolute Australian legend and one of my hero's Fred Hollows. He fought for the under dog and was not backward in coming forward went it came to bureaucracy! He loved the people of Bourke and he and some of his family are buried here. Thanks Fred for all that you did.

Check out more great Silo/Water tank art.
We also had lunch beside the Darling river

Woo Hoo over the border and on to Charlotte Plains Station

Deni to Cobar

12/6/2021

Applied for QLD border passes and we are good to go! So Cobar here we come.

We travelled across to Hay. It is Flat country out there you can see for miles! We saw our first wild Emu's. Stopped to look at the Silo/water tank art in Hay. It tells the stories of the people from town who went to War. Some incredible feats of survival. We camped at Cobar Caravan Park over night but if we were to do it again I would stay in a free camp either at Mount Hope (camp there is nothing much but neither was Cobar caravan park) or there was a free camp just in town. I have posted the photos of the of the portraits on the water tanks do your
self a favour and read their stories.

Anglesea to Deni NSW

Deniliquin

Rang NSW Covid safe travel we are good to go over the border to NSW. Left Anglesea and took the route through regional Vic and crossed the border at Echuca Moama (phew) Then on to Deniliquin Booked River side Caravan park for our 14 day quarantine. Beautiful spot great facilities with large sites, (ask Adam about the shower). Fantastic bike and walking tracks around the Edward River with lots of Bird life. We got word that we no longer had to do 14 days so we were free to explore the town and apply for our QLD border pass. We did an indigenous walk with a local guide Tracey. She shared stories of her Mum and Aunties and Uncles and showed us some bush medicine and bush mint that was delicious. There is some great art in the region. The long paddock is a drive you can do which used to be part of the Cobb and Co route with sculptures and outback pubs along the way. Be sure to check out water tank art in town.

Todays Feature Creature is "Gary" the Kookaburra

 27 /5/2021

Well we started our trip but not in the fashion we thought! The entire state of Victoria was locked down with a Covid 19 outbreak😷. We did our 10 days at beautiful Anglesea on the Surf Coast Victoria (thanks Lynne). Lots of watching of ABC news 24 to keep up to date with hot spots and exposure sites. We were allowed out for our 2 hours of exercise so here are some shots of our adventures on foot and on the bikes. (ohhh those hills😅)

Our feature creature is....... Carol the Magpie! named by Maya and Nash.
