Pink Lake Port Gregory and Kalbarri Coast

 Pink Lake is a stones throw from Lucky Bay. The best time to see it is when the sun is over head as it brings out the colour so between 12 noon and 2. I have never seen a pink lake and it was definitely worth a look.

We cruised around to the other side of the lake for a few more snaps and then in Port Gregory

We saw a sign that took our fancy on the way. Not sure why you have to sign post this but never the less we cracked up.

From here into Port Gregory. This town is in a time warp. Check out the houses. Love a beach side village that has escaped time but I wonder for how long. The beach is gorgeous.

This was out the front of some ones house not a restaurant.

We stopped at a place called Linger Longer Lyndon Station stay. It was originally set up in 1853 as a convict depot and station homestead. There is a lot of history here and it is worth a stop. One of its residents was Anne Leonowens who published her Memoirs 'An English Governess in a Siam Court' later to made into a Hollywood Musical called the King and I. (I loved this film when I was a little girl)

We spent the late afternoon exploring the cliff lookouts at Kalbarri NP rugged and beautiful.

Kallbarri wildflowers

 The season for wildflowers was technically over when we were in Kallbarri. So this is what you can see out of wildflower season. Amazing we could not stop looking and finding these precious and beautiful blooms. I am not up with the names but a rose is a rose by any other name. Enjoy mother natures life giving flowers. 

This photo looks out of focus but the flower is just so fuzzy it creates a blur

This flower is the deepest purple I have seen and I have seen Ian Gillan belt out smoke on the water so that's saying something.

Kallbarri National Park 1st November

 Lucky bay camp ground is about 30km out of Kalbarri and is $11 per car per night. It has drop toilets and camp kitchen, you can have a fire there is a skip for rubbish and dogs are allowed. You can drive on the beach and there is a beautiful lagoon for swimming about 1 km down from the campsite. We had the friendliest camp hosts at this place shout out to Andrew and Lisa. 

Today we headed for Kalbarri National Park and in particular the sky walk. My sister had done this trip with her family 10 years ago and there was no sky walk so these pics are for you Span.

There are two viewing platforms that jut out over the Murchison River Gorge. The floor is a see through grate so you can view the valley and river below when walking to the edge. It is spectacular and there are some great art installations and information boards to read. There is also a coffee shop if you need a cup.

Next stop is Natures window.

A short drive and a short walk from the car park takes you to this lookout.

There ancient tracks left in the rocks from creatures long ago.

From here we headed to Z bend aptly named as it is a Z shaped turn in the river. Its about a 4 km return walk absolutely worth it. The walk finishes at river below and the silence of the busy is golden, just nature ahhhhh.
