Yardie Creek Station is a caravan park on the Cape Range side of Exmouth. We were lucky to get a site here for a few days and had booked a whale shark tour. The park is ok the sites are large and there is a pool and café. Our first day we headed for turquoise bay and did some drift snorkelling there. It was windy but the reef and the fish were amazing. Drift snorkelling is when you get in the current and just let it take you over the coral ( lazy mans snorkel)
We were up earlier for the Whale shark tour. I had taken my sea sick tablets and had not eaten anything as anyone who knows me knows that I always spew on the boat. But ever hopeful I continue to go out on the ocean and hope for the best. We were given our briefing on the boat and kitted up with our gear for the day. We had two snorkels, a great lunch. We saw Hump back whales, turtles, southern right whales, sharks, rays, dolphins but alas no whale shark so we will come back in a week and do another trip. The photos are from the photographer for the day. A great company with a great crew. And guess what NO SPEW!
Nash spewed and Maya felt sick and Adam too but I was OK (hooray)
We had dinner at the campground BYO drinks live music. We were reminded by the muso that we were probably the luckiest group of people on the planet at the moment and to not take it for granted. (well said)
We have a change of caravan park here and go to the one opposite the big prawn in town. There are lots of places to stay in the national park here but they have been booked out for months in advance so I would suggest to book early if you don't want to stay in a van park. Exmouth has a few good places to eat Froth brewery in town and the whale bone brewery (good pizza). We caught up with cycling Claude in Exmouth.

There are heaps of Hump back whales in Exmouth this time of year where ever you go they are there. We were treated one night to a mother and calf at town beach breaching out of the water for about half an hour. We stayed and watched until it got dark. A girl I spoke to said she was out on her boat and could hear them singing to each other (so beautiful)
